I think I have finally identified the best way to help others overcome their fear of public speaking. The simplest and the most effective option is to find different opportunities to speak in public and to make use of the same again and again. Do you want to make use of Stansted transfers services? Well, make it a point to approach the service provider when you are surrounded by people and speak in a loud voice.

Do this and you are automatically speaking in the public. Many persons feel very scared when they are advised to adopt such an approach. However, many people realize that they are automatically viewed as leaders by others. When they speak up and speak on behalf of a group, other people automatically look up to them and expect them to provide assistance. This is a very nice feeling. That is when people realize that speaking out in public makes a huge difference to the way they are perceived by others.

I have known individuals who have understood this and have started speaking out in groups in the office. This would get a promotion quickly because their colleagues and superiors quickly started recognizing the leadership qualities in such individuals. Well, if you adopt such an approach, you will have unlimited opportunities to speak in the public.

If they are not available, you just have to proceed further and create them from scratch. This is not as difficult as it seems. The important thing is to have the right attitude towards the entire issue. If you have the right attitude, you will have the confidence to proceed further. You was also not feel embarrassed if you make a mistake. You realize that people still look up to you because you had the guts to speak up while they just did not have the courage to do so.

Has blogging helped me overcome my fear of public speaking? Well, there are times when I grow very despondent over my inability to overcome my fear. However, there are times when I feel glad about the fact that I had now at least have the ability to speak something directed at the public albeit in the virtual world using the written word. So, is my attempt really going to work and is it going to help people overcome their fear of public speaking? This would not be a small thing either.

Fear of public speaking is something that affects even the best of us. There are hundreds and thousands of individuals who look at leaders and orators standing on the stage speaking without fear and envy them from the bottom of their heart. In such a scenario, clear proof that blogging on the Internet, receiving comments and responding to the same helps overcome this fear is automatically going to increase the popularity of blogging even further.

To put things in perspective, I may not mind working as an employee in an office window cleaning firm that undertake the task of cleaning some of the tallest skyscrapers in London. Take me to the 50th storey of any building and ask me to stand on narrow ledge to clean the windows and I might give it a try. Ask me to speak a few words to a gathering of old veterans and you will find me shivering under the bed hoping that the sun would grow bigger and engulf the earth.
I have been consistently blogging and I must say it has helped me feel more confident about my ability to communicate to the masses. The fact that people have read my words and have not jeered me or done the virtual equivalent of booing is surely a positive thing.

A friend of mine, an actor, was teaching me about some relaxation exercises that he uses before going on stage. I tried using them the last time I had to do a presentation (on timesheet software, in fact) and, guess what, they really helped me feel calm and energetic speaking in front of a group of about a hundred people. So I thought I might share them on here.
First, you just need to loosen the muscles a bit. So simply rolling the head and shoulders, flexing the muscles in the arms and legs, clenching and relaxing the fists, then putting it all together by dropping the head to the floor then rolling up the spine, should help get the muscles of your body feeling a little bit more relaxed.
Then we move onto the main body of the exercise. It’s pretty simple. You begin by lying flat on the floor, with your arms by your sides and your eyes closed. You breathe in slowly through your nose, then out through your mouth. Then you time the breaths, so breathing in over five seconds then out over five, then taking those numbers up to ten, fifteen, even twenty.
The next thing is to picture the tension in each part of your body as a liquid - a syrupy golden liquid that’s running through your body. You imagine it all draining into a point on the small of your back, little piece by little piece, until it’s all there. Then let it drop into the floor.
It’s like Zen or something - and I certainly felt more relaxed during my presentation.Try it!

I speak on stage, a lot. You would think that by now I’d have gotten over the fear of getting up in front of hundreds of people to deliver a motivational speech. I wish that was the case but unfortunately, I’m not quite there yet. Still, when I know that I have some big event coming up where I will have to speak to loads of people at once, I fear that I might burp into the microphone or trip up the stairs as I am taking my place on the platform of that the people in the front row might be able to see sweat patches under my arms. It’s all rather embarrassing. Over the years, I have come up with a few things that I know will calm my nerves before I get up on stage.

Eating a banana. I have no idea why this works or it will work for anybody else but eating a banana, sometimes two, before i get up on stage always makes me feel calmer. I read once that bananas are brain food, maybe I am just more confident that my brain will be in working order that day.

Essential oils. This sounds a bit wussy but relaxing with some essential oils burning always calms me down. My personal favourite is coconut oil, it makes me feel like I am on holiday. Everyone is calm when they are lying on a beach covered in tanning oil right?

If all else fails I just imagine the whole audience dressed up in some type of ridiculous outfit.

I am slowly beginning to realize that there is an individual inside me who enjoys my discomfort and fear of speaking on the stage. The more I think about my fear, the more I realize that I am not afraid of public speaking per se. Rather, I am afraid of making a fool of myself in front of all those people. I am scared that I will embarrass myself despite preparing the speech very well. Why? How? I do not know but the fear never goes away.

When I memorize my speech completely, I am afraid that I will forget my words. When I am confident of speaking from my heart, I am afraid that the people will laugh at me. Even if I do manage to hold public attention, I am afraid that my pants will drop down and I will end up naked on the stage. Logical? Afraid not.

I compared my position to the antivirus software application installed in the computer. Can it function properly if it presumes that each and every web site that the individual is going to visit is a dangerous one? Obviously not. The software will use computer resources for finding the non existent virus instead. Such an antivirus software application will be discarded immediately.

To get to over my fear of public speaking, it is very important to let my fears go. I am not confident of speaking skills yet but I am inching towards my goal in a slow and steady manner.

As stated in my About Me section, I am not the person you would turn to when you need a really fantastic public speaker. Just the thought of it – or actually, just the essence of the thought of it – is terrifying, for the following reasons:

1) People who go to see public speakers are USED to going to see public speakers. Thus they expect the public speaker to be a professional. Talk about pressure!

2) The walk to the front is the worst, if you ask me. If I could just teleport into that position at the alter thing I would be so much better off…

3) People invariably ask questions, and it’ll always be something you have no idea about. And at the same time, your mind will wander and you’ll spot someone in the crowd who you think “hm, she’s nice!” about, and it’ll only make matters worse, not better…

But here’s a good thing: just as the rain helps all them British farmers grow British wheat , blogging can help all us information farmers to cultivate our skills. Try these tips and improve your public speaking at your desk, alone:

1) Read your blog posts aloud. It’ll get you more at ease with your own voice and that might one day help your public speaking.

2) Get used to standing and speaking while glancing down at your laptop, covertly of course. There’s no law against glancing, you know.

3) Use a web-cam so that as you are standing up giving your speech, you can see how it looks on your computer screen. If you’re wearing something nice it’ll boost your confidence no end, trust me!

London will be welcoming the Olympics family next year. More structures like stadiums and buildings will also become available for the delight of tourists. The city has long been a centre of attraction for people across the globe and remains one till date. It is expected that Olympic guests will also be taking time out to tour the ancient city. The stadium hosting the opening ceremony has been completed but B L or Builders London will be getting busy again as the city has marked out other projects to run in time for next year’s games. Apart from the new 80,000-seater stadium in Stratford, people keen on sight-seeing will also be having new additions to places they can visit. Next year summer will be a double package of the Olympic Games and tourism.

After the recent completion of repainting, the well-known London Tower Bridge will be getting a lighting makeover in time for the games as well. The lightning will not only highlight the features of the bridge at night but will also use less energy and emit less carbon which means the bridge will be more eco friendly. Also in the Olympics debut race is London’s cable car that will be designed to run across the Thames. One of the companies that will be working on this project was responsible for building the London Eye. Many other tourists’favourite locations will be getting face lifts because of the Olympics and London will be a double delight for visitors next year summer.

Here is how he explained it to me.

High blood pressure or hypertension is considered to be the silent killer. There are several causes for this illness, and one major cause is lack of sleep. There are very few people who are aware of the fact that lack of sleep is considered to be one of the major factors for hypertension.

Lack of Sleep Increases Mental Stress:

Lack of sleep can because by a number of different things. If you have stress you would find it difficult to sleep. The irony is that the converse is true, so if a person does not get proper sleep, they will more than likely develop stress. Mental tension or stress has a direct impact on nerves. The sympathetic system is activated and blood vessels get tensed. The oxygen required for brain increases and as a result heart has to work extra in order to send more blood to brain.

Irreversible Phenomenon due to Tension:

The extra load on the heart may generate an irreversible phenomenon, where changes in heart and blood vessels could lead to uncontrolled hypertension. There are different chemicals and hormones like catecholamine that is released in the body wherever stress is being experiences. Catecholamine is called the fight or flight hormone. These chemicals contribute to high blood pressure. </SPAN

I took a trip the other day to Shakespeare’s globe in London. I was trying the anyalise the performances to work out what I could learn from them. One of the things I absolutly love about the Globe is the fact that there is audience interaction. It is like you have been transported directly to the time when it was Shakespeare’s first performance. One of the only things which remind you of today is the occation plane or helicopter which pass over.

The performers must learn a lot about how to connect with the audience. I guess it must be part of the rehearsal preparation. The night I was there, the performer was presenting their lines. He mentioned a number of nations and their characteristics as part of the speech. A smart alec from the audience decided to should out “What about Spain?"The performer effortly made up a come back line with the wit of a stand up comedian. The line was something about being the buttocks of Europe. I was hegely impressed with the actors ability to not only recite the lines correctly, but also to engage with their audiences.

While I was being blown away by the different approaches to performance, I was reminded yet again of the two different worlds the Globe represents. Those who have a seat, and then those who stand throughout the show. The staff are almost military like in their way of stopping the standing people from leaning on the side or crouching. For me though the biggest distraction was a man eating a smelly pot of meat curry. It almost made me want to become a vegetarian, and infact that night I returned home to look up some good vegetarian recipes to eat.

Of all the tricky social taboos which nobody wants to tackle face-to-face, someone who doesn’t look after their personal hygiene as well as they should do has to rank among the top 5. What do you do when someone refuses to take the hint, or just isn’t aware that they stink? It’s a hard one, so here’s a list of approaches.

1) Be kind, but obvious: you could quite easily buy them some deodorant and just leave it with them. It’s obvious, but it’s better than…

2) Take them to one side and try and tell them. Go on. I dare you. I bet you can’t. This has got to be one of the hardest things that you will ever have to face at work.

3) Get someone else to do it: you could do a whoever-draws-the-short-straw trick. That always works a treat.

4) Have a discussion in the staff room without being personal and directing this at any one individual. That’s sure to get them thinking, don’t you think? It’ll probably result in them going too far the other way, but still, better than nothing…

5) The good old “do I smell? Maybe I do, maybe I should use deodorant more” trick. This will make them paranoid that maybe they also smell, and immediately action will be taken. How’s that for a bit of good advice? Failing that you could send them a Liposuction surgery brochure in the post with a note attached to it saying that they really need to use deodorant. They won’t understand why a mad-man has done this, but they might at least start to give the issue some proper thought.
